ADULT SEWING CLASS - 11 a.m. to Noon - THURSDAYS - September 10th to December 10th
Classes will be held at the Orange Beach Recreation Center Academic Room with Instructor DeAnn Milly. Sewing your own garments is not as difficult as it may sound. This course will take you through the very basic elements of fabric choice, how to decipher the pattern envelope and instructions inside, getting to know your sewing machine and how to begin sewing clothing, accessories, home decor, and more.
Your first project will be to stitch together a set of pajamas, where you will learn most of the basic elements of how to put a garment together. After that, you will learn to sew an unlined jacket and basic fitted skirt with a centered zipper. Then, you will complete your class wardrobe by learning the ins and outs of shirt/blouse construction, which includes cuffs, collars, buttons/buttonholes, ending the course with the creation of a stylish tote bag.
Class size: 3 to 10 participants.
(Please note: There are no Continuing Excellence classes on school holidays: Fall Break, October 9-13; Veterans Day, November 11; and Thanksgiving week, November 23-27.)
