COVID19 Update: The gallery is open to the public. Per the Governor's mandate, please wear a mask while in our studios or gallery. The gallery and studios are free to enter and are open M-F, 9-4.
About the Gallery:
Our gallery features beautiful fine works from local artists including watercolorists, potters, painters, photographers, sculptors and textile artists. We also have a gift shop with pieces in a broad price range so everyone has an opportunity to own special and original art. We are constantly acquiring new artists and frequently change the artwork so that there is always something new to see.
The grounds are always accessible and you are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the beautiful view of Wolf Bay. Or, please bring your easel and be inspired to draw or paint the breathtaking surroundings!
The center is a non-smoking facility.
Pets: We are pet friendly if your furbaby is leashed and has good, quiet manners.
Art Center History:
The Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach was, until 2015, located in the city's first hotel. Built in 1923, the boarding-house style hotel featured 11 bedrooms and one half bath upstairs while the family resided in the downstairs portion. The facility was only accessible by water until Canal Road was completed in the 1940s and originally served workers in the turpentine industry. Due to severe structural damage the building was torn down in spring 2015. Historical elements collected from the hotel (columns, wood flooring, doors and windows) are featured in the new gallery.
The center, previously managed by the Friends of the Arts nonprofit group, became a wholly-run Orange Beach city facility in 2013. The city continues to work with the Friends of the Arts to help make the center a well-rounded oasis for the arts.
We look forward to your visit!
