Orange Beach Interim Fire Chief Mike Kimmerling recognized two young men during the City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 9th for their actions during a recent house fire.
“Mayor and council this is a great honor for us tonight to present a couple of letters of commendation to two young men who made a big difference to our community,” Chief Kimmerling said. “I think anytime we can recognize people who actually make a difference that affects the lives of our citizens in our community it is a wonderful day for us and you should be thankful for their actions.”
Chief Kimmerling then read the framed letters of commendation that were presented to Thomas Martin and Robert Woodward.
Each commendation, signed by Chief Kimmerling, generally reads as follows:
On behalf of the Orange Beach Fire Department, I would like to commend you for your actions by providing a quick response to assist in the notification and removal of two residents whose home was involved in a rapidly growing fire. The residents were unaware of the situation, and your quick actions to notify and then assist both residents out of the structure as conditions were deteriorating definitely led to a positive outcome for them.
For that you are to be commended.
To show our sincere appreciation, I am presenting you with this letter of commendation and official Orange Beach Fire Department Challenge coin. The Challenge coins are presented by our department to individuals who provide meaningful assistance during emergencies to the community in conjunction with our response.
Your immediate response to a crisis without hesitation provided quick critical actions and showed true concern for others. Our community is fortunate to have individuals such as you who do not hesitate to help others in their time of need. Once again, thank you on behalf of the Department and the Community for your willingness to come to the aid of others.
