Expect Excellence

Expect Excellence is a unique department of the City of Orange Beach that offers all Orange Beach residents opportunities in academics, continued education, arts and enrichment.  

The Expect Excellence department includes a free after school program for Kindergarten-Sixth Grade students, a Pre-K after school program, a Summer Camp program for rising First-Seventh grade students, Performing Arts/Theatre for all ages, and a teaching Music Studio for all ages.

Office Hours

  • After-School - 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Summer Camp - 7:00 am to 6:00 pm

Culinary Camp

July 6-9, 2026


The City of Orange Beach and Expect Excellence's Culinary Camp is for rising 3rd-12th grade students and will feature local chefs, culinary entrepreneurs, and educators who have made their mark on lower Alabama with their dishes, business skills, creativity and enthusiasm. The camp is an exciting opportunity to pay homage to the local talent who make Orange Beach a sweet, and savory, place to live.

The Mako Academy Athletic Development (MAAD) Program is a supplemental program designed to provide targeted training for overall athletic growth. This is a year-round program intended to be beneficial for both in and out of season athletes. MAAD programming is designed to improve the knowledge and experience, as well as develop the physical capability, to be successful and competitive in any sport for athletes in grades 3rd-12th.
